Kevin Ward Jr. Can’t Seem to Catch a Break

The 2014 racing season has produced more than its share of bad luck for Kevin Ward Jr.

He had fast cars last month during the New York Sprint Car Speed Week, although the results fail to show it due to bad luck.  That trend continued this past weekend for Ward.

Going back a couple weeks to Yates County Speedway with the ESS, Ward began his night with a win in his qualifier after starting from sixth.

He ran top five in the dash for cash, and started the A-Main from the fifth position.  Kevin was up to third and battling for second place until motor issues developed on lap 20 and he was unable to continue.

Kevin’s next event came on Friday, August 1st at Ransomville Speedway with the Patriot Sprint Tour.  He set a blistering fast lap of 14.423, which is a new track record for Ransomville. Kevin also beat that lap on two occasions during the A-Main.

He started from the outside of row one, and quickly pulled out to the lead.  For the first 23 laps of the race it looked like Kevin was destined to victory lane, but after coming up on a slower car late in the race, the lapped car got loose and spun, leaving no room for escape, causing heavy front end damage on Ward’s car.  He was unable to continue.

“I don’t know what we have to do to shake off this bad luck”, says Ward Jr.  “We have had fast cars, but we just haven’t had the results to go with it”.

Kevin will be back in action this weekend with a trip to Ohsweken Speeday on Friday night and Canandaigua Motorsports Park on Saturday evening.

Kevin Ward Jr. would like to thank all of his sponsors for their support during the 2014 racing season.  They include Westward Painting, Tioga Construction, Sherwin Williams, Young’s Auto Parts, Carquest and Finish Line Web Design.
